Causey Arch

The walk starts from the car park just off the Causey Road. You could also start from Causey Arch railway station which is one of the stops on the Tanfield Heritage Railway.

Hugh Causey Trail Ride

It's the oldest railway in the world, operating a passenger service every Sunday and on some other selected days. You can extend your walk by continuing along the trail towards Chester-le-Street.

Hugh, and his wife Betty, attended the trail ride every year to meet up with friends for fun and fellowship. Betty still participates on the annual ride. Horses and mules of all breeds are invited to participate.

Blowing Rock is a lovely mountain community nestled along the Blue Ridge Parkway with many local artists, great shopping, excellent dining and quaint hotels. The Tweetsie Railroad and Grandfather Mountain are located nearby, providing additional opportunities for family fun.
